About Us
We are two artists and teachers. We met in a drawing class at Millersville University and have been together creating art ever since. We’ve done numerous outdoor art shows, had work in many galleries, and have each been featured in juried shows. We currently reside in South Jersey, where we have our studios and teach classes out of our home.
Jim grew up in Lower Bucks County PA. He’s been an oil painter since college, influenced greatly by the art of Jim Dine and Richard Diebenkorn. In addition to his oil paintings he also enjoys oil pastels, using a solvent to create loose washes along with details. Currently, Jim has delved into watercolors - a smooth transition from his loose washes of oil pastels. He really enjoys the techniques of watercolor and the wonderful effects you can achieve. His artwork has been displayed in galleries and in juried shows, where he has won awards. Jim is a member of the American Watercolor Society and the New Jersey Watercolor Society where one of his paintings was accepted into one of their annual shows. He teaches evening high school and adult fine art classes, and enjoys conducting monthly watercolor workshops.

Ruth grew up in Delaware county, PA, and enjoyed the eclectic life of a small school in a college town. In high school she had a one-man show and also sold her work in a local boutique. She’s had her work in multiple galleries, but then took time off to enjoy raising her family. Somewhere amidst that time, Ruth had the opportunity to illustrate four children’s books.
Recently she has re-entered her world of artwork, and has had work in several juried shows. She enjoys drawing, watercolor and mixed media. While always favoring people and portraits, currently her favorite subjects are women and children of various cultures. Ruth teaches afterschool art classes to elementary and middle school students, and also a variety of children’s summer art camps and workshops.

In addition to creating fine art, Ruth and Jim also share their passion through workshops and classes. Learn more at Soli Deo Arts.
